The Letter That Changes Everything: The Legacy Letter with Blake Brewer (Ep. 18)

The Letter That Changes Everything: The Legacy Letter with Blake Brewer (Ep. 18)

What if the most powerful thing you could give your family had nothing to do with money? In this episode, Brady sits down with Blake Brewer, founder of the Legacy Letter, to explore one of the most personal and transformative conversations we have had on this show. Blake’s story begins with tragedy and ends with a mission that has already touched thousands of families.

At 19 years old, Blake lost his father in a drowning accident while on a family vacation. Hours later, his mother handed him a letter his dad had written and planned to give him on that very trip. That letter changed the trajectory of Blake’s grief, his faith, and ultimately his entire career. Today Blake is on a mission to help one million parents write a meaningful, lasting letter to the people they love most.

Key Takeaways:

  • A parent’s written words can anchor a child through grief in ways nothing else can.
  • The Legacy Letter follows a proven structure: intro, apology, love, pride, belief, advice, and closing.
  • The apology section is the hardest part and the most important. Own it without blame.
  • Your children are telling themselves a story about how much you love them. It may not match yours.
  • This letter is not about death. It is about pouring into your family right now.
  • Done is better than perfect. Sooner is always better than later.
  • TFO is hosting a virtual Legacy Letter event with Blake on September 24th. Contact us through the show notes to join.

About Our Guest, Blake Brewer:

Blake Brewer is the founder of the Legacy Letter and the Legacy Letter Challenge. His mission grew directly out of one of the most devastating moments of his life. At 19, Blake lost his father in a drowning accident during a family vacation in Hawaii. Hours after the tragedy, his mother found a letter his father had written and planned to deliver on that trip. That letter shaped how Blake grieved, how he healed, and ultimately how he chose to live.

After spending years mentoring college students and witnessing the impact his father’s words continued to have on his own life, Blake developed a structured process to help other parents write meaningful letters to their children. He has since guided thousands of families through the experience and is working toward his goal of helping one million moms and dads put their most important words on paper.

Blake has been featured on The Today Show, The Mike Huckabee Show, and numerous other platforms. He speaks to groups across the country and works with families at live and virtual events to help them capture their legacy in a form that can be held, read, and passed down for generations.

Raising Kids Who Blow Past You: The C4 Framework with Scott Donnell (Ep. 17)

Raising Kids Who Blow Past You: The C4 Framework with Scott Donnell (Ep. 17)

In this episode of the Wealth and Purpose Podcast, Brady Fineske speaks with Scott Donnell, founder of Fig and Eagle and author of Value Creation Kids, to unpack the C4 Framework, a proven system for raising connected, courageous, values-driven, and capable kids. Scott shares practical tools for parents and grandparents at every stage, from the Gigs Method and Brain Gigs to the Core Word Method and the family FUMES reward system. If raising kids who blow past you in every way that matters is the goal, this episode is your starting point.

Most parents want the same thing. They want kids who are confident, capable, grateful, and grounded. But in a world of smartphones, overscheduled weeks, and the pressure to give our children everything we never had, something quietly goes wrong. The kids we are trying to bless end up entitled. The families we are working so hard to build end up fractured. And we wonder where it all went sideways.

Scott Donnell has spent more than a decade sitting with the strongest families in the world, studying what they do differently, and turning those patterns into a framework any family can follow. In this episode, Scott joins Brady to unpack the C4 Framework, a four-pillar system built around Connection, Courage, Core Values, and Capability. Whether you have young kids at home, teenagers pushing every boundary, or adult children you are still trying to reach, this conversation is full of practical tools you can put to work today.

The Top Takeaways from this Episode:

  1. The number one secret of the world’s best families is simple. They take time to work on their family, not just be in it.
  2. Stop solving their problems. Life is the greatest teacher. Every time you step in, you step in the way.
  3. Your job is not to give your kids everything you never had. It is to teach them everything you never knew.
  4. Legacy is a recipe book, not a lottery ticket. The strongest families work a proven system and stop leaving their future to chance

What Is The Wealth For? Chris Erblich on Powerful Lessons From Families Who Got It Right (Ep. 2)

What Is The Wealth For? Chris Erblich on Powerful Lessons From Families Who Got It Right (Ep. 2)

Many families focus on growing wealth and minimizing estate taxes. But the bigger risk? Falling into the same trap 90% of successful families do by losing the wealth within three generations due to a lack of shared values and meaning.

In this episode, Brady Fineske, CFP®, speaks with Chris Erblich, CEO of TFO Wealth Partners and Partner at Husch Blackwell, who shares powerful, real-life stories that demonstrate how wealth without purpose often fails.

Through emotional anecdotes, from banana peels to legacy letters and life-defining questions, they explore how families can and should pass down more than wealth itself.

Chris discusses:

  • Why most families fixate on the estate tax “40% problem” and ignore the much greater “90% problem” of generational wealth loss
  • A billionaire who reframed his legacy around job creation, revealing to his children the true purpose behind his wealth
  • A heartfelt letter from a father to son that became the most valuable asset passed down, not financial, but moral
  • The “dash” concept: a tool used in family meetings to reflect on how each member is spending their time and energy to create impact
  • A conversation with Clayton Kershaw that reframed professional accolades as a platform for purpose, challenging listeners to identify their own
  • And more
